Welcome to the Vector Wellington Orchestra's exciting and vibrant 2008 programme! Music can communicate so many different aspects and in this season we focus on music that tells specific stories. From commemorating Rimsky Korsakov's 100th anniversary with his ever popular Scheherezade to Apollo, the profoundly moving ballet by Stravinsky, each programme features a work that tells a story.Download the 2008 Season Brochure - Playing For You We are excited to present a semi-staged opera in the Wellington Town Hall - Bartok's magnificent Blubeard's Castle - and a work that was the closest JS Bach got to opera buffa, his rambunctious and hilarious 'Peasant' Cantata. Vector Wellington Orchestra is committed to presenting the most innovative classical programme in the country and I believe that collaboration with other art forms brings huge resonance to what we do. This year we are pleased to announce a major new initiative - the AMI New Zealand Pop Star Series! In 2008 we will feature a man who personifies 'New Zealand' in his music, Dave Dobbyn and one of the singular musical talents to establish himself in the public's consciousness in recent years, Che Fu. It is a thrill to work with such gifted musicians whose art speaks to the culture of today in such a profound manner.
