In addition to our subscription concert tours and Education performances in 2012, the VWO will present “Masterpieces in the Regions” for smaller centres outside Wellington.
These concerts include some of the greatest pieces ever written for string ensemble, starting with Mozart’s familiar and beloved Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. It is followed by one of the best-known Haydn piano concertos, the G major, Hob. XVIII-4.
To close, one of Richard Strauss’ most deeply-felt works, the Metamorphosen, which uses the theme from the funeral march of Beethoven’s Eroica, among others, and takes them through a series of transformations.
